Dad’s friend who died from a heart attack at a restaurant was out for a dinner date with his parents last week when he collapsed.
“I know he was going to have a great time,” says Chris DeRozan.
“But then his heart started beating and he went into cardiac arrest.”
He was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.
DeRuzan was out with his friends at an ice cream parlour in Vancouver, B.C., when he suddenly collapsed.
His mother and sister arrived home and called 911.
“He was on his hands and knees, with his hands under his head and his head down, he was just laying on the ground, I think he was unconscious,” DeRosan said.
And then my mom said, ‘No, you can’t. “
And I remember my dad saying, ‘I’m going to take my dad to the hospital.’
And then my mom said, ‘No, you can’t.
I’ve got to go.'”
DeRosa, his brother and three of his friends are also at the hospital and have to go through intensive care.
They have to stay for two days in intensive care while doctors work on identifying his cause of death.
He was 22 years old.
His friends were taken to hospital and are being cared for at home.
He had been celebrating the anniversary of his son’s birthday, which is today.
“We’re all really sad right now,” De Rozan said as he spoke to CBC News.
“His birthday is tomorrow.
We’re all trying to get through the day.”
He’s not going to miss out on a meal with his family.
He says he will be able to make the trip tomorrow.
“My wife is going to be here for the first time and I’m going in the truck to the ice crea … and my mom and dad are going to go for dinner.”
DeRzans mother says she is heartbroken.
“There’s no way he could have died that day,” she said.
De Rosan is a full-time chef at a sushi restaurant in Vancouver.
He and his family are also members of the Vancouver Canucks organization.
“Our whole family is devastated,” said DeRoses mother.
“Just because we can’t eat together, it’s just really sad to see.”
De Rosas sister says he was a happy person who enjoyed his family and was happy to be home at the end of the day.
“A lot of people get to say, ‘Well, he didn’t do anything to you, he just went out to get ice cream.’
And my brother just went in the water to get water and the water was cold, so I’m sure he was trying to cool himself down,” said Dina DeRoss.
“For us to be there for him is really tough, but that’s life.”
De Ross says her brother was always smiling and happy to talk.
“To see how he was looking at me and being so upset and that I was not able to see that because he was not looking at my face, it made me really sad,” she says.
De Rosa is survived by his mother, sister and brother.
De Rozans mother, Chris De Rosan, says he is going through a difficult time in his life.
“At this point, we’re going to put everything into our next day,” he said.
He is expected to make a full recovery.
